I have a social life again!

I bet some were wondering if Chef E was slowing down a bit...NO, I was out with the girls tonight. My two new friends from my Open Mic met at my place for a quick homemade Soba Noodles and Thai dinner, and then we traveled down to South Jersey for some 'Expressit' Coffee House Open Mic.

The move from Texas to St Louis and then to here four years ago, I have found it is hard to make quality friendships. Some are flaky, some have to much going on and not time to sit and enjoy quality conversation (they fit you in to there over packed schedules), and some "already have enough friends" (in a whiny voice), or my husband is too quiet for them, or he makes more money than theirs and is a wine and food snob...oh yeah I have heard it all, so I decided to take it easy and try and be happy with my work, and occasional going out with hubby. Gen has been great, but sometimes we need one or two more to hang with to balance it out, and I was starting to feel a little lonely lately...hubby traveling and all.

All I have to say is my karma must be good, because these two women who are more my age, my friend Gen is six years younger, and the new ones are a few years older than me. One is quiet, Eileen, and the other talks as much or more than I do, yep, Sue. Both are sweeties and they play guitar and write songs and poetry like me. Gen is an artist (quiet like Eileen), but not quite into the Open Mic as much as the other too, so we all will balance each other out. Tomorrow hubby and I are going out to dinner and meeting them afterwards to go dancing, yeah! I am excited, you know I love to dance... They also wanted to throw one back with me in honor of Anelisa's 23rd birthday...

Well it is late my time, and I still have to go put the ole feet up and unwind before I can even begin to try and sleep, so I hope you all are doing well and I am just going to say one word...

Ahhhhhhhhhhh, when life is good, it really rocks! (Okay I said seven)

I think it's great you've found friends....I may get a chance in the next couple years, if I ever get done with school
Enjoy;)

Having a couple of friends is so important.

I went out with the girls last night too - and it rocked.

That's wonderful! You live in Jersey? I used to. I lived in Eatontown a long time ago and drove up to Woodbridge to work.

Yay for your new friends!

You already had friends, but I'm glad you found some to hang out with in the flest. (Old Dog calls my bloggy buddies my "imaginary playmates.")

Sorry you've been having such a tough time lately (I took time to read some posts I missed) and sorry I wasn't here for you, as you have been for me.

Now that my February Super-Blogger experiment is over, I'll be reading more again!

I am one of those people who have to fit others in her schedule *looks at self in mirror with a look of approval* I used to be availible for everyone at any time but then I realized..I CAN DO WHAT I WANT!!!! Fact is my family is my life and I am perfectly content with that. Now when the kids grow up I plan to be with my husband and do lots of things that you can't do with young children! But I am enjoying the little triumphs like walking and talking...they seem so monumental to me!
