FSO- My Town Dressed In Christmas

I might have a Princeton, NJ address, but I really live in the Plainsboro Township. To my surprise Plainsboro does not decorate, so I could not show you my real town, only the one that is more well known. Princeton University, and town center.

Once again my flash did not go off, because every inch of the streets are lined with lights.

I have not felt well the past few days due to stress and allergies, but I made an effort to walk around and take some photos. When I drove in two nights ago I felt like that one photo I posted of the 'National Lampoon Christmas Vacation house'...I was blinded by light...

Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Blinded by the light,
revved up like a deuce,
another runner in the night
Madman drummers bummers,
Indians in the summer with a teenage diplomat
In the dumps with the mumps as the adolescent pumps his way into his hat
With a boulder on my shoulder, feelin' kinda older,
I tripped the merry-go-round
With this very unpleasin', sneezin' and wheezin... sorry that song just popped into my mind!

This alley way above does not do it justice, but it was cold, and I was shivering...

The photo above reminds me of a store front you would see in 'The Scrooge' one of my favorite movies to watch each year. I like the old buildings like this around town...

If you eat dinner in Princeton, you could do some window shopping and dream...they town is full of high end stores, restaurants, and hip Princeton college hang outs.

I love driving around seeing lights, and when I lived in Dallas the tradition was to go to a wealthy area that was known for its elaborate yard decor. The line would be for miles, but you just waited your turn and let your jaw hit the ground, well the floor board! My kids loved doing that every year...

We do not put up a tree or decor in the past nine years. Hubby travels so much, and honestly we live in a very small condo and there is no room. Plus I am allergic to evergreens... Okay excuses excuses, but one day I will have grandchildren and have a my own 'National Lampoon Christmas'... I am baking with my clients kids so there are aromas of Christmas in the air around my house and theirs...

I have a pretty small living space too, but a few ornaments on the ficus, and lights around the ceiling make things look festive for a month. Great tour of the decoration in your town!

I like that first store front shot, ya know I didn't even think of visiting the store fronts. I agree with the Scrooge shot too, looks right for the time.

I am allergic to evergreens too, but we still get a real tree. We have a living room separated off from the rest of the house, so we put it in there in a way that you can see the tree from the kitchen. That way, along with some Claritin, we have our real tree. (Sneeze)

I love the old house too and the window display. It reminds me of something I would see in a movie about Christmas.

sorry you are still feeling poorly - when hubby come home you will feel better - lousy time of year to be alone. In Houston we used to drive the kids out to the NW almost to Magnolia and there was a subdivision that every street had a theme and was in competition with the other streets. it was wonderful cause the owners of each house were also outside giving out cookies and talking with everyone that drove by.... great community experience.

You get my prize for commitment! Sorry you haven't been well but you still went out in the cold to get your shots. And what shots they are, too! Thank you. Get well soon!

I like the looks of the brick house...the one that reminds you of scrooge. It's a welcoming look for me, warm and inviting.

Just telling it like it is said...

I can't believe Christmas is already here? Can you?

Dazzle, dazzle. Bling, bling. Where are my sunglasses?

Guess you are getting ready for the big storm. We were lucky. Except for a scattering, it missed us.

For one who didn't feel well you did a great job of going out and catching some festive lights around Princeton. Too bad a camera can't capture the fragrance of your baking: now THAT's special!

A good friend of mine has a great solution for a Christmas tree in tight space. I've posted a photo of her little dollar store tree on the side bar of my blog. She added a string of battery operated lights and voila! Have a great day Elizabeth.
